Home/Metal Stud Framing Austin

Metal Stud Framing Contractor, Austin & San Antonio

Interior and exterior light-gauge framing, curved and radius walls, soffits, suspended ceiling grid, and shaft and fire-rated separation walls — self-performed by our own crews and carried straight through drywall finish. Family-owned, 35+ years, the framing backbone behind our commercial and multi-family work.

Framing is the capability everything else is built on

Ask most drywall subs about metal-stud framing and it's a bought-out line item. For A-Best it's the core of the business — the reason we can walk onto a job and own the wall from the floor track to the final coat of mud. Our crews self-perform light-gauge framing across Austin and San Antonio, then hang, tape, and finish the same walls, so there's no seam between framing and finish where problems hide. That single-trade continuity is exactly what lets us scale into commercial build-outs and multi-family communities and hold a GC's schedule instead of becoming the bottleneck.

What we frame

  • Interior & exterior metal-stud framing — partitions, load-bearing exterior light-gauge, full-height and slab-to-deck
  • Curved & radius walls — feature walls, serpentine partitions, arcs framed true
  • Soffits & bulkheads — dropped ceilings, light coves, mechanical chases
  • Drop-ceiling grid & suspended ceilings — ACT grid, drywall ceilings, transitions
  • Shaft & area-separation walls — elevator and stair shafts, tenant demising
  • Load-bearing light-gauge — structural stud walls to the engineer's detail

Questions

Metal-stud framing FAQs

Do you self-perform metal-stud framing, or sub it out?

We self-perform framing with our own crews. The same team that frames your walls, soffits, and ceiling grid stays on to hang and finish the drywall, so one contractor owns the wall from layout to final coat.

Can you frame curved and radius walls?

Yes — curved feature walls, radius soffits, and serpentine partitions are a specialty. We score and bend track to the radius on your drawings so the finished drywall reads as a clean, continuous curve.

Do you build fire-rated and shaft-wall assemblies?

Yes. Rated demising, corridor and area-separation, and shaft walls are standard scope — built to the exact UL or rated detail in your plans, with the right board layers and firestopping.

Do you install drop-ceiling grid and suspended ceilings?

Yes — suspended ACT grid and tile, drywall ceilings, soffits, and bulkheads. Because we also frame the walls, elevations and transitions line up instead of fighting each other.

Do you work under a general contractor's schedule?

Yes. We bid from your plans, hit framing-inspection milestones, coordinate rough-in with the MEP trades, and give you one point of contact from layout through finish.
